One of the best bits of our trip was when we (only just) managed to get tickets for The Jacobite, we turned up an hour or so before departure time and joined the queue, since all the pre-booked seats had been taken. We managed to be squeezed in by standing until Glenfinnan (affording an excellent door/window view of the viaduct just before the stop) then getting a comfy seat for the rest of the journey. Even better, was when we were cheeky enough to nip up into the engine room and take a couple of photos of the behind-the-scenes stuff when the train stopped in Mallaig.
